eBook Binding

2024-09-25

Suppose you have an eBook that is perfect (as a book) in all respects except the cover does not display in your library software, as shown below. That can be fixed, with the right software.

The library is Mobipocket Reader. The repair software is Mobipocket Creator. Sometimes, the repair software is Calibre, which is an essential tool in any case. From there, it all depends on the source document.

Take Tales From the Mermaid and Tiger by Karen C Evans and Kevin H. Evans. I can download that story from Baen Books in .MOBI, .EPUB, .HTML, and .RTF formats. The .MOBI format has never displayed the cover in my Mobi Library. Of course, I can read the book in three (actually six) other formats but my Mobipocket Reader Library doesn’t look as pretty with no cover art thumbnail for ALL the books. Bah. Humbug. [mutter mutter mutter]

Mobipocket Creator can take MS Word, HTML, text, or PDF files as source files to create a PRC file output.

.PRC = .MOBI.

As you can see at left, after recompiling the story via Mobipocket Creator, Tales From the Mermaid and Tiger now displays a proper thumbnail. In the case of stories for which there was no cover, I can create and add one of my own.
